Company Formations Canada is an incorporation filing service that, by its own About page, has traded since 2000. Its fee tables list a service fee of $199.99, with the government fee, a name search and tax added as separate lines. Ours is $35.00 to draft and submit the same Articles of Incorporation, with HST counted inside that figure rather than added to it. The registry fee stays outside it and reaches you at cost: $200.00 to Corporations Canada under the Canada Business Corporations Act, or $300.00 to the Ontario Business Registry under the Business Corporations Act (Ontario), as set out in the Gondaliya CPA incorporation cost breakdown. Open Corporation for $35 is a department of Gondaliya CPA. Every number on both sides below carries a source.
The short answer
Open Corporation for $35 suits anyone who wants a licensed CPA firm to file the corporation and remain responsible for the CRA registrations, bookkeeping and the first T2 return that follow. Company Formations Canada suits anyone who wants a filing agent with a long record and a minute book included inside one published price.
On the service fee we are $164.99 lower, and against their published federal total we are $216.48 lower. They are the stronger choice if you want a minute book bundled in today, because ours is quoted on request. The difference that matters most is who is accountable once the certificate is issued.

Where they win
Their package includes a company minute book, so the corporate records arrive inside one price. Ours is quoted on request, so on that line theirs is the offer you can buy today.
Their fee table is clear in shape. Government fee, name search, service fee, tax and total are all shown before you order, which is better practice than much of this market.
They have been trading for many years and state a 24-hour turnaround on their incorporation pages, with incorporation pages for several provinces beyond Ontario.
Their refund policy is published, and refund requests made before work begins can be reviewed.
Where we win
The fee line. $35.00 with HST already inside it, against $199.99 before tax, is a $164.99 gap. Against their own federal total it is $216.48.
The tax and government fee lines. Ours is inside the price. Their Ontario table shows $362 as the government fee against the registry’s published $300, and calculates tax on a subtotal that includes it. Our Ontario incorporation service shows the $300 on its own line.
The accountability row. CPA Ontario firm registration number 61330051, held by Gondaliya CPA Professional Corporation. A filing service cannot fill that row.
The rows after filing and the refund row. CRA accounts, bookkeeping and the first T2 from $300 are ours, and our refund window is 30 days against refunds only before work begins.

What a CPA checks before you incorporate
Packages are sold in tiers. Incorporations are not, because the questions that decide the tax outcome are the same on every file and none of them appear on a pricing page.
Take the share structure. Whichever package is bought, the articles get a class list, and that list is fixed on the day the certificate issues. A single founder with no plans still benefits from voting common, non-voting common and a preferred class being present, because each one is free to include now and needs an amendment to add later. Our share structure guide explains the choices.
Take the shareholders. A package cannot tell you whether the spouse you are about to add will produce a usable dividend. Section 120.4 of the Income Tax Act decides that, on hours actually worked in the business and on whether the shares carry real votes and value.
Take the first fiscal year end. It can be any date within 53 weeks of incorporation, it sets the T2 deadline and the instalment cycle, and changing it afterwards needs Canada Revenue Agency consent. No package includes that conversation.
The same applies to HST registration timing against the $30,000 small supplier threshold, to whether salary or dividends should come out first, to whether the $500,000 small business deduction is already shared with a corporation you own, and to whether a holding company yet justifies a second T2. Where a college is involved, professional corporation eligibility comes before the name. Where a proprietorship is converting, a section 85 election carries the goodwill and equipment across without a taxable gain.
Case studies
A founder with a $451.48 quote
The situation: A consultant had the federal fee table open and asked what a federal corporation would cost with us.
What we did: We filed a federal corporation online, with the name search built into the application, and set up the share classes for a spouse later.
The result:
- Federal corporation filed for $235.00 in total
- Share classes ready for a family member
- Year end and HST timing set at the start
An Ontario named company
The situation: A retailer had been quoted $668.94 for a named Ontario corporation and asked why the government fee was $362.
What we did: We showed the $300 Ontario fee, ordered a $25.00 NUANS report and filed the articles.
The result:
- Named corporation filed for $360.00 in total
- Government fee shown at the registry’s figure
- HST account registered by us
A sole proprietor with equipment
The situation: A trades business owner wanted to incorporate and had only been quoted for the filing.
What we did: We incorporated the company and prepared the section 85 election so the equipment and client list moved in without a taxable gain.
The result:
- Assets transferred with no gain reported
- Election filed on time
- First T2 prepared by the same firm
Frequently asked questions
How much does Company Formations Canada charge to incorporate?
Their fee tables show a service fee of $199.99, and totals of $451.48 federally and $668.94 in Ontario once the government fee, a $30 name search and tax are added. Some of their page headlines advertise lower prices, so confirm the fee with them before you order.
Is Open Corporation for $35 cheaper than Company Formations Canada?
Yes on the service fee: $35.00 with HST included against $199.99 before tax, a gap of $164.99. On the federal total the gap is $216.48, being our $235.00 against their published $451.48. Government fees are charged at cost on our side.
Why does their Ontario page show $362 in government fees?
The Ontario Business Registry publishes $300 for Articles of Incorporation filed online under the Business Corporations Act (Ontario). Their table shows $362 and gives no explanation for the $62 difference, so ask them what the extra amount covers before you pay it.
Do I need a separate name search for a federal corporation?
Corporations Canada says the name search is built into most online applications under the Canada Business Corporations Act, so a separate NUANS report may not be needed. A named Ontario corporation does need an Ontario-biased NUANS report, which we order for $25.00. Our federal incorporation service explains the steps.
Does Company Formations Canada file my corporate tax return?
A T2 is not part of an incorporation filing service. The Canada Revenue Agency requires a T2 corporation income tax return within six months of the fiscal year end. We prepare it from $300.
Can I get a refund if I change my mind?
Company Formations Canada’s refund policy says fees become non-refundable once research, preparation or filing has started. We publish a 30-day money-back guarantee and a 60-day fee-matching policy.
